Boxtor had the pleasure of supplying a growing self storage business in Surrey recently with over 18 x 20ft 1 trip Dark Green RAL 6007 new shipping containers.
About Our Client
Boxtor’s valued client is heavily involved in the removals and storage sector, both here in the UK and internationally.
They operate a fleet of removals lorries and large vans for UK domestic and overseas house and office moves/ relocations, as well as providing both short- and long-term secure crate storage (within secure warehouses at their site) and additionally, containerised drive up self storage at their external facility in rural Surrey.
The Start of the Journey
Like many of our clientele, it always starts with “just a few containers”, before they start adding additional units due to increased demand for container storage. One quickly becomes ten units, and before you know it you have a fully operating container self storage business!
Initially with one site, they grew month by month, accommodating around 60 x 20ft containers over several years.
Like many, they quickly saw how container storage provides a steady additional revenue stream for their business and allows them to diversify into other areas beyond just removals and storage. Container drive up self storage provides them with ‘another string to their bow’ and helps provide secure, drive up self storage for the local communities and businesses, proving to be a popular commercial decision.
The Challenge
Dominic (Boxtor Director) worked very closely with Seb and Amanda to ensure their second site was ready to accept this new batch of 20ft storage units. All these required early morning deliveries and Boxtor worked closely with our client to ensure minimal disruption took place during the drop off of the containers. This was to ensure local businesses and residents were not affected by the arrival of large HIAB Lorries during the main hours of the working day.
We delivered all 18 x 20fts across 2 early mornings and placed them perfectly in situ with HIAB crane trucks. Most of these units were trucked to site on flat bed articulated lorries (without the cranes) and Boxtor had two HIAB Lorries on site to assist with offloading and siting.
As Seb and Amanda’s storage business continues to grow, we look forward to working closely with them in adding more units at their facility.
