With their club grounds & stadium being literally a stone’s throw away from our head offices in Kew, our Director – Dominic Coy, headed down to meet Club CEO Nick Grecian to discuss how Boxtor can best support London Scottish going forward. We have some exciting news to share which will be announced in the coming weeks regarding the upcoming partnership & sponsorship between Boxtor & London Scottish!
The 40ft new high cube container will provide the club with much needed additional storage for match playing & training kits, rugby balls, tackle pads, physio equipment, training accessories and much, much more!
About our client:
London Scottish Football Club is a rugby union club in England, founded in 1878. The club is a member of both the Rugby Football Union and the Scottish Rugby Union. The club is currently playing in the 2nd tier of the English rugby union system, Championship Rugby, and shares the Athletic Ground (RAC) with Richmond Rugby Club.
With an extensive youth, minis and senior programmes (both amateur and professional), the rugby club is a hive of activity in South West London. Their 1st XV Mens Senior team compete in the rugby championship, the tier below the premiership. Some fantastic rugby can be seen on display each weekend & we look forward to following their season!
The Challenge Faced – Lack of on-site storage
- Limited on-site storage space due to ageing club sheds and increasing equipment volumes, like tackle shields, line out frames and rugby kit / balls.
- A limited budget to spend on storage due to the financial constraints of running a large rugby club in London
- Location restrictions: the storage unit needed to be positioned adjacent to an astro turf pitch, almost underneath a tree!
The solution had to be a lockable, secure, weatherproof and smart storage unit which blended into the green surroundings of the rugby pitches and shrubbery etc. Most importantly the unit needed to offer a large storage space for the club to house its many items! Boxtor’s new 40ft containers are the perfect solution to this client’s needs.
The Boxtor Solution – A New 40ft High Cube Container Supplied
After speaking with Club Chairman Nick Grecian on how we could best service the clubs storage needs & requirements, we agreed that a long term, cost effective rental of a brand new dark green 40ft high cube (offering 360 sq ft of storage space) was the best solution. The benefits include:
- Extra internal height (9ft 6in high) for stacking lots of club equipment
- Large cubic capacity / storage volume suitable for oversized rugby training gear and kit.
- Constructed of heavy duty, Marine-grade Corten steel construction offering long-term durability & security
- 18 air vents on the unit to offer maximum ventilation/ air flow, resulting in a reduction in condensation build-up on anything stored within.
- Cost efficiency monthly rental payment compared with constructing a permanent building on site, thus helping the rugby clubs’ cash flow and allowing them to expand in other areas.
Delivery & Installation:
Our delivery driver Dean sited the container perfectly underneath a tall tree and ensured the 40ft container was placed exactly where the rugby club required it. An articulated HIAB crane lorry was used to lift & position the container adjacent to a building and in between the astro turf and clubhouse.
Result and Benefits:
- All training equipment and kit are now stored in one easy-to-access location.
- Improved presentation of the gear due to the racking installed inside the container.
- Smart, dark green unit that blends in well with its natural environment
- Cost-effective monthly rental charge, keeping overheads down.
- Quick delivery to the site without any works required. A shipping container is also an ideal short-term storage solution as it can be dropped off and picked up again by a HIAB lorry if the club was ever to change location, or they wanted the container to be moved to a different part of the club’s grounds!
