Boxtor recently arranged the supply & delivery of a bespoke 10ft ISO shipping container for a Media Company’s specific requirements. It was fully modified internally with racking, an electrics package, lighting and externally repainted in a custom paint job. Read on below to find out more!
About this enquiry:
The media company we supplied here were referred to us by a fellow supplier based in the North West. They kindly put us in touch as Boxtor’s main depots for modifying containers are located in Felixstowe, London and Southampton. We were therefore best placed to supply this unit, with modifications, due to the final destination being Norwich, North Norfolk.
Modifications Requirements
External Painting in Yellow Colour
This 10ft unit was painted by our team in a bespoke ‘Sand Yellow’ RAL colour, due to the 10ft container being shipped overseas for use in a hot, arid desert environment.
The unit was therefore painted externally in this eye-catching yellow colour so that it could blend into its natural surroundings. We all agreed at head office that it certainly looks the part!
Did you know: we can respray a shipping container in ANY paint colour – please ask our team. We can manufacture containers to order in any colour at our factory in China (minimum order 20 x 10ft/ 20 x 20ft units for eg).
Supply of internal power and lighting (standard electrics pack)
At our depot, we installed the following as part of our standard electrics pack:
- 2 x Double Gang Power plugs, installed at a specific height in order to fit around the racking.
- 1 x LED strip ceiling light and light switch fitted to RH Side.
- External power connection (but installed INTERNALLY within the unit due to shipping requirements) with 3 pin power plug)
Bespoke, custom-made racking with shelving
We organised the supply and fitting of bespoke, custom-made racking for our client to fit internally on both the left-hand and right-hand sides of the 10ft container. The racking will be used for storage on site once the container reaches its destination.
Boxtor provided our client with custom drawings showing the locations of internal additions and modifications to the container, ensuring complete accuracy of all aspects of this project from start to finish. Our client was kept informed throughout the whole process.
Delivery & Lead Times
We carefully delivered this unit to site with Rigid HIAB lorry. The unit was supplied with a valid CSC document for a period of 4 years, so it could be used for export shipment overseas.
Lead time: Initial enquiry to date of delivery was only 18 days.

Are you looking for a modified container
We can fit the following modifications easily to a shipping container of 8ft, 10ft, 20ft or 40ft sizes:
- Standard lighting pack (2 x Double Gang Sockets, LED strip lighting, External Power Connection, Internal Fuse Board)
- Repainting externally or internally in ANY paint colour*
- Additional Access doors & windows (standard or Anti Vandal type supplied)
- Graffotherm treatment (anti condensation foam spray)
- Shortening of a shipping container to a bespoke size/length (cut and shut)
