Boxtor recently worked on a bespoke conversion for one of our longstanding self-storage clients.
Our client required a 20ft new double door (tunnel) container to be supplied to their new site in Bury St Edmunds. The container is going to be used as an onsite office and storage unit.
20’ double door containers are a fantastic option for on site storage, as they have cargo doors at both ends of the container, providing double ended access.
- Double Door containers are often used by self storage sites to create 2 x 10’ (80 sq foot) storage units, with a welded steel wall often being fitted prior to delivery (speak to us if you require a quote for this). Ply wood walls / removable metal walls can also be installed / purchased separately after delivery.
- 20’ Double door containers are ideal for ‘middle aisles’ of self storage sites with roadways at either end, providing an ideal storage unit for your customers on site. It is important to offer a variety of unit sizes at a self storage facility, as not everyone requires a 20ft (160 sq foot) container!

About This Project
For this particular bespoke conversion project, our client was going to use this 1 trip (new) 20’ double door container for two different purposes:
1 x 10ft unit would be an onsite office with a set of LED strip lights, light switch, external power connection with isolator switch and a set of double gang power sockets.
The other 1 x 10ft unit would be a fully ply lined and insulated room for the housing of the CCTV, Access Control systems and Wifi. This room also had LED strip ceiling lights with light switch and a set of double gang power sockets.
We completely resprayed the container in a very smart RAL 5013 cobalt blue so that the container will arrive at our clients site in a ‘factory finish’ without a scratch!
