We recently supplied Center Parcs Woburn Forest with a brand new 20ft dark green shipping container, which was ply lined and insulated prior to delivery.
Center Parcs and Boxtor have been working together for many years, with Boxtor supplying secure storage solutions to Center Parcs at their sites up and down the UK.
This includes 20ft and 40ft high cube shipping containers for use as additional on site storage to be used across a variety of their departments.
Customer Requirements
For this project, we needed to supply a unit that was going to offer a storage environment where there must not be any condensation build up whatsoever inside the container, with the unit offering a controlled temperature environment.
The answer to ensure this is the case? PLY LINE & INSULATE YOUR CONTAINER
About the Container
We installed 15 mm thick plywood to the insides of one of our 1 trip 20ft new containers. These containers already have a huge number of air vents all around them to help keep condensation at bay, but ply lining and insulating (although more expensive to do than graffo therm) can offer complete peace of mind when storing high value goods within.
This container was delivered to Woburn Forest on a rigid HIAB lorry and craned into position by our expert HIAB driver Lee.
Steps to Consider if You Ply Line a Container
Estimated (approx.) requirements for a 20ft container to be ply lined:
- Side Walls: Each side wall needs approximately 4 sheets (4ft x 8ft) of plywood.
- Front and Rear Walls: Each will need around 2 sheets.
- Ceiling: Around 4 sheets.
- Floor (optional): Around 4 sheets if you plan to add another plywood layer to the floor.
In total, you’ll need approximately 16-18 plywood sheets to line the entire 20ft container. Make sure to buy extra sheets to account for cutting mistakes or imperfections.
At Boxtor, we can supply you with a fully ply lined and insulated shipping container of any type/ size. This would arrive at your site ready to go, and really does look the part. If storing high value goods, such as antique furniture, expensive clothing, luxury goods, cloths and/ or fabric, then considering ply lining your container is something we would strongly recommend. We also offer a range of other bespoke modifications which can be made to our shipping containers
